The honest weakness of artificial plants

Two limitations should be stated plainly rather than glossed over:

They do not improve air quality. Live plants take up carbon dioxide and release oxygen through photosynthesis, and their growing medium supports microbial activity. Artificial plants do neither. Their benefit is visual and psychological, which is real and measurable in commercial interiors — but if air quality is the objective, the money belongs in ventilation, not in plants of either kind.

They accumulate dust and need cleaning. No watering does not mean no maintenance.
